My name is Melissa Poitras-Belanger and this year I will celebrate my fourth year in the industry. Real Estate for me is not just a job, but a deep passion of mine and I love every second of it!! I’m a mother, a wife, a sister, a daughter and a friend too many including all of my clients.
My philosophy since day one in this industry is to really get to know to my clients and discover more than just a work relationship but build a friendship for life.
Anyone who knows me knows me will tell you that my passion is singing and performing. In 1998 after giving birth to my youngest child I was feeling like something in my life was missing. I had a beautiful family but never really felt complete. It was during this time that I realized I truly loved music and it was my deepest passion in life. I knew I wasn’t ‘going to be the next Shania Twain, but I had a unbelievable desire to pursue a some sort of music career.
So from the basement of my home in Hanmer I came up with the idea that I would get into the world of Tribute Acts. But who could I impersonate? It didn’t take me long to realize that I would and could do a Dixie Chick Tribute the only thing I was missing was a band and the two other girls that would complete the act, oh and how the heck would I convince people to hire us????
I picked up the phone and began soliciting my idea to talent managers across Ontario and was fortunate enough to have found someone who would listen…long story short, 6 weeks later we were touring in Calgary, Alberta and the rest was history…..250 shows a year quickly grew tiresome, although I had a wonderful run at that and travelled to many parts of North America perusing my dreams I also grew exhausted and wanted a “normal” life, enjoy my young family who was at home.
My music career took me to Toronto, On. but after living away from Sudbury for about three years, I was eager to come home. When I returned home I went back to school to be an Addictions Councilor and graduated top of my class, was honoured with Valedictorian my graduating year. After a few years in that field I realized I was not helping people the way I had always hoped too….
So….. it came as no surprise to those around me when I decided to follow in the footsteps of my Father whom I had always admired very much. In 2007 I completed my licensing with OREA and began selling Real Estate in my hometown, and here we are today…..I AM COMPLETE!!!!
